    Love, love, love how destination weddings = a day or two after for creatives with the newlyweds!  We had a blast with Anita + Jesse’s entourage (a.k.a members of the bridal party) as we went to Hard Rock Resort & Casino and the local market for days 1 & 2 of the creatives.  Our original plan for the market was put on hold by more thunderstorms but we found a luxe locale and spot of sunshine.

    Lifeguards warned us off the beach as thunderstorms were, yet again, approaching.  Much to  Jesse’s dismay neither of us were prepared to dive in after him  so he couldn’t play in the crashing waves.  Sorry Jesse, Rina’s had just 1 too many instances of losing her shorts in calmer waters!

    Day 2 we went to the local market with bodyguards Ray & Colin to keep the vendors at bay.  Anita got her groove on and danced in the streets, much to everyone’s delight as tourists and vendors who cheered from the stalls.  She also found a shawl in the same colour as the bridesmaids’ dresses and we all chipped in so she could have a souvenir of her Dominican wedding.

    Anita bought her dress in China and never had any intention of taking it home with her, even though her mother-in-law was quite keen for her to have it for the Edmonton reception (although we all joked it was for Jesse’s sister Marianne to have for her wedding day).  Instead, Anita wanted her dress to give someone else’s love story a stylish flourish who otherwise may not be able to afford it.  A pregnant vendor asked Anita for the dress as she was hoping to get married after the baby was born.  Anita was super happy that her dress would give another girl the opportunity to have a beautiful wedding and traded the dress from some jewellery and a sundress (well she couldn’t exactly walk around nude!)

    Thank you Anita + Jesse for having us out to your wonderful and crazy wedding.  Your friends and family were awesome and we got a chance to hang out with everyone, seeing some old pals and meeting some new friends. Your free spirited personalities go soooo well with us!

    Loved your Edmonton reception as well!

    Love. You. Always.

  • Fall Fashion :: Infused Studios + Edmonton Journal (Sept 2010)

    Edmonton Journal Fall 2010

    Photographers and Art Directors :: Infused Studios (Anthony + Rina Chan)

    Kira Hladun epitomizes the beauty, charm and character of a young Saturday musician; immersing herself in music while indulging in the world around her and embracing the inspiration found from an outdoor table at a cafe and the relaxing sounds of water in a local park.

    A day in the life of is a fresh look on Style in Edmonton; a centre page look at what’s on trend for the season.  We were approached by the Edmonton Journal to provide a fresh outlook on fashion and we made it a dynamic shoot and instead of focusing on the products, we focused on the lifestyle and showcasing Kira’s character and how clothes can reflect a personality.

    On Saturday, September 11th the Edmonton Journal showcased an expanded “Fall Fashion Preview” in the style section reaching over 280,000 readers. In addition to print the feature was also available on edmontonjournal.com.  Musician, Kira Haldun modeled fall fashions from exclusive upscale retailers.  Infused Studios developed the story board based on the life of a young musician.  Readers, retailers and style editor, Kerry Powell said this was one of the best fashion spreads created and executed in the Edmonton Journal. Rina and Anthony Chan were instrumental in this process.

    Bravo Infused Studios!”

  • Angela + Jimmy :: E-Session

    Mid-summer sun lit this varsity inspired photo shoot.   We took Angela + Jimmy back to the start of their love story; Grant MacEwan campus.  Jimmy was the aspiring student’s union member paying his dues in the cafeteria’s convenience store, Angela was the pretty nursing girl who bought candy to get a closer look at the eye candy.

    The campus was rife with places that had special meaning to the couple and we were privy to a guided tour of their relationship spots.  Even though Rina teaches at Grant MacEwan, seeing the campus as a stage for a love story brought a new dimension to its halls.  Fortunately we didn’t have the police pursuit of Vancouver since Rina, well aware The Sun uses campus to search for sunshine girls, had cleared the shoot with HR the previous day.

    :: Lockers
    Providing a protective barrier from the onslaught of heavy nursing textbooks were roses.  Jimmy surprised Angela with roses in her locker one day.

    :: The Library
    As a nursing student, Angela had a home away from home in the library.

    :: Study rooms
    Both Jimmy and Angela spent countless hours bonding while studying and reviewing for exams.

    :: Cafeteria
    This was the epicentre of their relationship; Angela saw Jimmy doing his speech for SU here and thought he was cute.  This was also where the convenience store was and as Jimmy worked the register he caught a pretty girl’s eye….

    :: Front Courtyard
    Romantic walks, lunch dates and a chance to get away from the library and study rooms.

    Meet the pups

    When we arrived at the lake, it looked like one of the evil dogs from UP! had escaped from a screen nearby and was pursuing Angela + Jimmy’s Accord as though it were a mythical bird.  Reality then set it and we were equally convinced that a guard dog had escaped from a neighbouring farm and was protecting its territory.  Turns out the puppy henchman is Leo, Angela + Jimmy’s 1 year old pup who’s friendliness is only exceeded by his curiosity. Leo’s off leash antics kept everyone well entertained and Rina kept a close eye on him to make sure that we were chasing after him just when the light was perfect!

    Shiloh, a super cute gift from Jimmy to Angela, is a year older than Leo and a bit more selective in playmates.  While Leo was eager to play, Shiloh was a bit of a snob and rebuffed any of Leo’s playful gestures.

    The sun set as Angela + Jimmy took a romantic stroll along the trails and enjoyed the autumn foliage.

    Angela + Jimmy we can’t wait to shoot your wedding on the 23rd of October!  Looking forward to seeing your beautiful personalities come through in your wedding day and meeting your family and friends.  Thank you for including us in your love story – we can’t wait to shoot the next chapter of it!

    Much love,

    P.S. don’t stress about the details, remember it’s your day so make sure you enjoy yourselves!

  • Carmen + Shaun :: Whatever it is (Edmonton, AB) Part II of II

    “Cause every time I try and tell her how I feel
    it comes out “I love you”
    “I do”
    You got whatever it is
    Oh you got whatever it is” ~ Whatever it is, Zac Brown Band

    Fort Edmonton Park was an ideal reception venue for Carmen + Shaun who are a fantastic combination of country and urban – lending an old fashioned charm and sense of history.  The Air Hanger came alive as Carmen + Shaun’s family and friends celebrated into the night.

    The couple had a beautiful cake crafted for their wedding and Shaun’s mum surprised them with a cake celebrating her son’s other love; his corvette.  The guests were adamant that both cakes should be cut but Shaun couldn’t bear to marr any Corvette, even a confectionary one. Fearless, Carmen took matters into her own hand as Shaun, despair in his face, could only ask, “how could you do this” as Carmen ‘keyed’ the driver side door before taking out the front headlight.

    “That’s how she ruined her first car.” Shaun commented, shocking Carmen (but no response!)

    Both the bride and groom’s siblings gave speeches, raising a glass to the glowing couple.  The best man, Lee and maid of honour, Kara, paid tribute to their best friends by creating Carmen and Shaun-air, set to the tune of ‘The Prince of Bel-Air.’Calgary Wedding PhotographerCalgary Wedding PhotographersCalgary Wedding Photography

    The couple sang along to ‘Whatever it is’ as they opened the dance floor.

    As the party went on, the couple found themselves the centre of attention; Shaun was surrounded by girls and Carmen by boys.  Shaun was pulled in all directions as the girls encircled him and stripped him of clothing, one piece at a time!  The boys knew better than to mess with the dress and instead hoisted Carmen up in the air and had a dance with her.

    Jagerbombs and cigars came out in the evening, giving guests the opportunity to raise a celebratory glass or light a cigar to mark the occassion.

    The light showers cooled the party (after stripping Shaun it had heated up a bit!) and the rain drops shimmered with light from the hangar.

    Edmonton Wedding Photographers

    Carmen + Shaun, thank you for letting us share in your day.  We felt so welcomed by your bridal party and guests and loved the opportunity to recharge by raising a jagerbomb in toast to you.  Can’t wait to shoot your Trash the Dress next year!

    Your dear friends,

    ~Anthony + Rina
