    “There is no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard
    No song that I could sing, but I can try for your heart
    Our dreams, and they are made out of real things
    Like a, shoebox of photographs
    With sepiatone loving
    Love is the answer,
    At least for most of the questions in my heart”

    ~ Better Together, Jack Johnson

    With an hour for creatives, we made the most of the time by shooting at a nearby lagoon where the rocks and water added a sense of fun and calm. While it was too cloudy for a sunset shoot, the clouds were stunning.   The newlyweds were happy to relax and enjoy some of their first moments as husband & wife (as long as the dress didn’t get dirty!)

    Welcome Mr & Mrs Wong

    Philana + Gary opened their reception with their first dance.  To celebrate their travels (and make it just a lil bit harder for guests to request a kiss) Philana + Gary locked lips only when someone named a place they had traveled together.  Finn, of camera lens mischief earlier in the day, was first to the podium, proudly declaring ‘France’ as an answer.

    Always thoughtful, Philana + Gary had a photo booth, complete with costumes and props, to keep the kids entertained.  And a candy bar to keep the kids going ;)  Cameron, the flower girl, was so pleased with her photos she rushed over to show us – we loved the goofy shots! Thanks for sharing Cameron!

    The wedding games were light-hearted and everyone had a laugh when Philana answered ‘July’ and Gary answered ‘August’ to the question ‘when did Gary propose?’  Typical of Gary, responsible enough to know it was a summer month but not romantic enough to know exactly when.

    The speeches gave everyone insight into Philana + Gary’s personalities.  Philana, patient, caring, globe-trotter and bargain hunter extraordinaire is a loving romantic.  Gary was touted as the perfect guy; family-focused, responsible, career-orientated, handyman and an excellent cook.  Careful not to oversell, Vic added that Gary is also a man of few words and little sense of humor before stating that love must be deaf as Philana was impressed by Gary’s sense of humor.

    Philana’s parents ended their speech with a surprise – they had youtube’d traditional Hawaiian dances and got the guests dancing along with them while Philana, shocked by her parents technological adeptness and dance ability, laughed and joined in.

    Grandpa Gary, as his friends call their sensible, responsible friend, was encouraged to enjoy his wedding day and ‘hang loose’.  Taking his friend’s advice, Gary took part in the ‘who can dance better’ game and while he lost out on the Hershey’s Kisses with macadamia nuts and Kona coffee to Bobby and Fred, his bride was proud.

  • Kate + Wills :: Royal Wedding (London, England)

    Words by Maureen Young

    Click Like.

    Would you join the thousands expected on The Mall next Friday to celebrate what’s been touted as the Wedding of the Decade? Infused Studios’ wordsmith, Maureen Young, is offering to do just that & Facebook about it BUT only if enough people ‘Like’ the idea.

    Infused Studios’ live coverage of the Royal Wedding has started on Facebook ‘Like’ the album for continued news, gossip and pics in the lead up to, and day of, Kate + Wills wedding.  If 30 people ‘Like’ the album, Maureen will be on the ground taking photos of the street parties, decorations and talking with the others lining the streets of London for a glimpse of the royal couple.

    If enough people like the album, she’ll even wear a fascinator or hat! (& we really want to see what those fascinators look like!)

    Love. You. Always.

  • Melinda + Kyle :: A Love Story (Edmonton, AB) E-Session

    Words by Maureen Young

    Melinda + Kyle played a game of cat and mouse (taking turns as cat/mouse) for years before officially dating.  Having met through mutual friends, there was an instant connection and a shared love of movies, dancing and karaoke.  As the start of their love story was a series of moments, it’s unsurprising that each remembers a different moment as the one that really melted their hearts.  For Melinda, it was Kyle appearing to take her to her first Oilers game with a white rose in hand (his dad had arrived to pick up his mom on their first date with a single white rose).  For Kyle, it was his heart leaping out of his chest in the parking lot as Melinda called out ‘If it’s not too late, I want to go out with you.’

    To us, their shared moments sounded like scenes out of a Hollywood romance and so we turned Edmonton into a giant set and spent a day visualizing  Melinda + Kyle :: A Love Story.  We wanted to share their images as an album spread so the images would have a sort of film reel quality.

    As an Engineer, Kyle travels around Alberta and Mel studied as a dentist and now works in Edmonton.  No matter how far from Edmonton he is, even if it’s a 10 hour round-trip journey to be back for work the next day, Kyle is always there for Mel.  For their e-session, we went to their favourite weekend haunt and enjoyed the crisp Autumn air and the eclectic boutiques on Whyte Ave.

    We all agreed a trip to Whyte Ave wasn’t complete without a stop at Dadeo’s.  Although Melinda + Kyle love their Po’Boys, we persuaded them to try the scratch bbq wings and it looks like the sweet potato fries might just have a new companion on their next visit à deux.

    The other diners and passer-bys snuck a glance or two trying to figure out if celebrities were in their midst as we captured Melinda + Kyle having a cozy lunch.  For Kyle, it was a Beijing flashback.  On their trip to Beijing a few years ago everyone wanted a picture with him!

    One of our favourite places in Edmonton is the River Valley and on this Autumn day, with the fall colours and lighting it felt like we’d gone down the rabbit hole and entered Wonderland.    The sun-kissed afternoon was perfect for a romantic stroll.  For us it was also a bit of a sentimental moment as the location was one we’d first found in our freshman year of photography.

    Melinda + Kyle, we can’t wait to shoot your wedding in Banff this year!  You guys were amazing in front of the camera, thankfully not so much that our lenses steamed up ;)  We hear there are a lot of Asian tourists in Banff so we’re sure you’ll be celebrity superstars on your wedding day too!

    Love. You. Always

  • Stephanie + Ryan :: Amigurumi

    Words by Maureen Young

    Our rock-star wedding couple, Stephanie and Ryan, whom we call our dear friends, invited us over to their new home for a delicious steak dinner.  Months ago, during Ashley’s maid of honour speech we heard how her older sister Steph was the creative and artsy kid.  After begging and pleading with Steph for a crocheted stuffed animal (Ashley was the kid in love with stuffed animals) and then forgetting about it, Ashley received a crocheted kitty from her big sis.   As a gift for us, Steph and Ryan made a puppy and a bunny.  They’re absolutely adorable!  Now that we’ve also been the recipients of Steph’s amazing craftiness, we can see why Ashley begged and pleaded for days – we love our dog and bunny!  We were told that each animal takes at least 3 hours to make by hand and are incredibly touched that Steph + Ryan made these for us.

    Stephanie is an avid blog reader of amigurumi, and now she has her own blog (All About Ami) where she shares her passion and techniques behind this cute Japanese craft. Be sure to follow her latest creations on her FB fanpage as well.

    Thanks so much Steph + Ryan for this wonderful gift!  How’d you know we’re both suckers for cute little stuffed animals?   =)

    Love. You. Always.
