With an hour for creatives, we made the most of the time by shooting at a nearby lagoon where the rocks and water added a sense of fun and calm. While it was too cloudy for a sunset shoot, the clouds were stunning. Â The newlyweds were happy to relax and enjoy some of their first moments as husband & wife (as long as the dress didn’t get dirty!)

Welcome Mr & Mrs Wong

Philana + Gary opened their reception with their first dance.Â To celebrate their travels (and make it just a lil bit harder for guests to request a kiss) Philana + Gary locked lips only when someone named a place they had traveled together.Â Finn, of camera lens mischief earlier in the day, was first to the podium, proudly declaring ‘France’ as an answer.

Always thoughtful, Philana + Gary had a photo booth, complete with costumes and props, to keep the kids entertained.Â And a candy bar to keep the kids going ;)Â Cameron, the flower girl, was so pleased with her photos she rushed over to show us – we loved the goofy shots! Thanks for sharing Cameron!

The wedding games were light-hearted and everyone had a laugh when Philana answered ‘July’ and Gary answered ‘August’ to the question ‘when did Gary propose?’Â Typical of Gary, responsible enough to know it was a summer month but not romantic enough to know exactly when.

The speeches gave everyone insight into Philana + Gary’s personalities.Â Philana, patient, caring, globe-trotter and bargain hunter extraordinaire is a loving romantic.Â Gary was touted as the perfect guy; family-focused, responsible, career-orientated, handyman and an excellent cook.Â Careful not to oversell, Vic added that Gary is also a man of few words and little sense of humor before stating that love must be deaf as Philana was impressed by Gary’s sense of humor.

Philana’s parents ended their speech with a surprise – they had youtube’d traditional Hawaiian dances and got the guests dancing along with them while Philana, shocked by her parents technological adeptness and dance ability, laughed and joined in.

Grandpa Gary, as his friends call their sensible, responsible friend, was encouraged to enjoy his wedding day and ‘hang loose’.Â Taking his friend’s advice, Gary took part in the ‘who can dance better’ game and while he lost out on the Hershey’s Kisses with macadamia nuts and Kona coffee to Bobby and Fred, his bride was proud.

Part III :: A stunning couple, a stunning state = AWESOME.

Jenny + Maury :: Chasing Rainbows (Jasper, AB) E-Session

Jenny + Maury are two fish who are no longer out there.Â After meeting via Plenty of Fish, they had an instant connection and one of those Hollywood romcom coffees at Tim Horton’s.Â From a nail gripping car journey over 3 blocks to the ‘save me’ call, it was like something out of a movie, complete with pictueresque moonlight proposal.

In a bit of a hiring circle, Maury, who Anton hired in his previous role at Enbridge, hired us to capture his wedding day.Â Given that Maury’s international experience first set him apart, we took the couple to Jasper and away from the demands of careers and an MBA.Â We love it when we get to introduce a couple to a new experience!

Jasper may sound like an idle stroll, but after a weekend with us Jenny + Maury were more than happy to relax in a hot tub!Â They handled the physical demands beautifully and we are well impressed Jenny managed all her outfit changes whilst Maury was driving the car!

The ducks at Jasper Park Lodge brought a smile to Maury’s face as ‘duck’ was both the nickname given and ‘not it’ phrase shouted when the room started to smell a bit funny.Â The emerald water amazed Jenny who, as a Jasper Park Lodge virgin, hadn’t seen water so clear and such a colour before.

The hike up to the glaciers and ice caves didn’t stop Jenny + Maury from looking gorgeous at the top.Â The crystal blue water drew admiration from the couple who, even after Mexico, hadn’t seen water so clear before.Â From mountain top we opted to chase the rainbow and managed to do it without skittles ;)Â The rain looked like it was going to ruin the shoot but instead left a fresh canvas for this love story.Â The vistas of blue sky and white cloud reminded us of the plains in The Lion King.

After hiking, trekking and braving the elements we all tucked into pizza and lasagna at local restaurant L&W – an Infused restaurant tip!

Jenny + Maury, thank for you a wonderful time. We hope you guys really enjoyed the trip and glad you got some well deserved R and R as well :)Â Can’t wait to shoot your 2012 wedding!

Philana + Gary :: Flavours (Calgary/Lake Louise, AB) E-Session

Half their party was 3/4 of the way up the mountain feeding their baby as Philana + Gary stood at the top of Chinaman’s peak with all of Canmore spread out below them like a miniature town.Â Gary, not one for romance but one for romantic gestures, asked Philana to marry him.

“So you wanna get married?”

How could Philana say no to the guy who picks her up a chocolate croissant from her favourite bakery, Manuel Latruwe, every Saturday?Â After having travelled Europe and sample the pastries in France, Philana is adamant that there is no better place to enjoy a croissant than at Manuel Latruwe’s.Â If it weren’t for her travels around Europe, Philana and Gary may never have got together as they’re first date was based on her wanting to chat with him about his European travels as he’d just got back from all the cities she was about to go to.

Thank you to Manuel Latruwe for letting us use his bakery to tell Philana + Gary’s love story – your croissants are truly some of the flakiest and best we’ve ever tasted!Â Watching Manuel at work reminded us of a Lindt Master Chocolatier :).

We even got behind the scenes access, much to Gary’s delight, who loves to see the magic as it happens.Â Philana + Gary were shown how to knead dough and introduced to the array of ovens, which left Philana feeling a bit intimated by all the staff and work that go behind her favourite Saturday morning treat.

We’ve always wanted to do a shoot on the railway tracks and Gary, formerly of Canadian Pacific Railway, made our dream come true.Â His buddies worked it out so we could do part of the e-session in the train yardÂ and it was an absolute afternoon of boys and their toys!Â We even had an tour of the driver’s cabin.

Philana + Gary first bonded over their shared love of travel and they tend to spend summers abroad whenever possible so they don’t get much of a chance to experience the Rockie’s sans snow.Â For the third part of their e-session, we went to the backside of Lake Louise where, even though the bank was too muddy, we had an absolute blast!Â Philana + Gary treated us to an impromptu performance Ã la Cirque du Soleil as they did back flips and leapfrogged over one another.

Philana + Gary, you guys were absolute stars during your e-session and we loved spending time with you.Â Thank you for making our dream of a railway inspired e-session come true without the hefty trespassing fine!Â We are thrilled to be in Hawaii scouting out the perfect locales to tell your wedding story & can’t wait for your big day tomorrow!
