    Love is the answer
At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?
… I’ll tell you one thing, its always better when we’re together

One week in Edmonton.  Rhiannon received her Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting, from the University of Alberta.  Paul received her hand in marriage.  Not too shabby!  Rhiannon + Paul’s wedding brought them back home from Hawaii, where Paul manages pumps for a local firm.

When day to day life includes living near a beach in Hawaii, where hobbies are snorkeling, jet skiing and kayaking, not to mention hanging out with the dolphins in the early hours of the day, the wedding has to be a fairy tale really, doesn’t it?

Rhiannon and Paul brought the beautiful weather of the South Pacific with them to Edmonton for their fairy tale wedding at the Hotel MacDonald.   The wedding car? A limo.  The reception?  Mayfair Golf & Country Club.  What really made this a fairy tale come true though was Rhiannon, looking like a Princess Bride, marrying her Prince Charming after a courtship that has taken them from Edmonton to Hawaii and back again.  Paul may be able to jump off high cliffs into the ocean without a blink, but the sight of his beautiful bride brought tears to his eyes.

Edmonton’s hot dry heat was a bit of a change from the humidity of Hawaii, but everyone was incredible when it came to celebrating the bride & groom’s love of each other and the outdoors by shooting outside.  How incredible?  Ice creams all around (even for us!) after a day spent in the park.

The Mayfair Golf & Country Club blossomed, the perfectly appointed buds providing beautiful detail and accents.  The wedding favours were adorable as well!

  • Nancy + Garrett :: Artisan (Edmonton, AB) Part II of II

Yes you’re lovely, with your smile so warm
    And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

~ The Way You Look Tonight, Frank Sinatra

Nancy + Garrett’s wedding was an urban affair; from Hotel MacDonald the guests could walk over to the Art Gallery where the reception took place.  As the wedding party was exclusively family members, we loved capturing the first moments of not only husband + wife, but also those first shared laughs and smiles of a newly joined family.

Nancy + Garrett’s reception at the Art Gallery was a modern affair with beautiful touches, from the floral decor to the très chic touch of the wedding cake tiers displayed on upturned glass vases.  Best man Brent volun’told’ guests for the kissing games, which included a karaoke sing along and table charades.  Garrett’s children; Haylee and Brendan both gave speeches, Haylee had hers prepared and Brendan hadn’t prepared his but gave an eloquent, heartfelt speech to his dad and step-mom.

Nancy + Garrett, thank you for having us at your wedding!  We’re incredibly touched by the warmth of your family and the elegant beauty of your wedding day.  It was a fantastic celebration of your love story to date & the new chapters to come!  Hope you had an amazing honeymoon in Italy (we’re super jealous, we have yet to venture over to Europe!)   Can’t wait to hear how the house is coming along as well 🙂

    Much love,

  • Nancy + Garrett :: A Cut Above (Edmonton, AB) Part I of II

Imagine going in for a haircut and walking out with the possibility of love.  That’s what happened to Nancy one fateful day when, during her haircut, her hairdresser Tommie mentioned that she had been thinking about setting Nancy up with certain someone for a couple of years.  After seeing Garrett’s photo on the salon’s website (and the salon weighing in on the conversation!) Nancy agreed and Tommie rang Garrett that night with Nancy’s contact details.  The next morning Nancy had a voicemail and, that night, Nancy + Garrett were on their first date.

3 years later  and Nancy + Garrett are building a house, and a life, together.  An incredibly classy, elegant and beautiful couple, Nancy + Garrett married at the Hotel MacDonald attended by family and witnessed by their nearest and dearest.

The boys were at Garrett’s house getting reading, where the groom was joined by his son Brendan, brother Brent and Brent’s boys Tristan and Aaron.  Brendan, who at 16 hadn’t worn a suit before, was asking his dad how to put on the suspenders and tie a tie.  Garrett helped Brendan get ready before getting ready himself, with Brent there to make sure Garrett looked his best.  The finishing touch, cuff links from Hugo Boss for the wedding party and Garrett’s parents arriving to help with the boutonnieres.

Nancy got ready at Hotel MacDonald accompanied by her mom and bridesmaids; sister, Laurie and Garrett’s daughter, Haylee. Both bridesmaids were stoked about being involved in the wedding. Laurie was excited for her big sister who found her knight in shining armour and Haylee was telling everyone she was sure her dad would cry during the ceremony because he was quite emotional during the rehearsal.

Edmonton Wedding PhotographyEdmonton Wedding PhotographerEdmonton Wedding Photography

The afternoon ceremony was an emotional gathering.  Nancy walked down the aisle with her dad to Ava Maria, timing the walk perfectly to the music so it was a definite ‘wow’ moment when Nancy arrived at Garrett’s side and the moment tied into the music seamlessly.  Haylee may have expected her dad to be in tears, but instead she was the one crying with happiness.  The ceremony included readings from Garrett’s sister and sister-in-law which brought tears to the guests’ eyes.  Nancy + Garrett exchanged handwritten vows and, after saying ‘I Do’ walked back down the aisle followed by their children who were, quite literally, dancing with joy.

Nancy + Garrett, your love story is a beautiful one and we loved being there to visualise this chapter of it.  It was an elegant, emotional and beautiful ceremony – can’t wait to share the reception in Part II!

    Love. You. Always.
