    A lifetime of laughter.

Could this be one of the best wedding themes ever?  It’s a statement and aspiration that perfectly embodies who Caroline + Chris are as a couple.  Their beautiful smiles swept us away while we enjoyed Montana’s great outdoors for their engagement photos.  We enjoyed a culinary tour with them, including celebrating Chris’ birthday (shhhh … he told Caroline he was a year older than her when they first met so she’d feel better)  with the Maid of Honor, Melissa Giroux and Bridesmaid Allison Hart and their significant others.  Food is a passion they both share and we enjoyed buffalo burgers at a little corner shop (if you’re traveling through Montana it’s a MUST, but get there before 2pm or your taste buds will never forgive you) and jerky at the shop next door.  We learned that Caroline likes to gamble when it comes to her food – if you bet her to eat something, she will!  That includes a stale peanut found in someone’s cubicle.  On the bright side, she now has $20 towards her wedding costs!

Embodying their love of playing Catchphrase with friends while at Chris’ uncle’s cabin, we went to Flathead lake where Caroline and Chris danced through the fields and picked flowers.  To end the day, fresh cherries as the sun set over the cherry orchard.  Bliss.  Tastebuds concur.

Caroline + Chris, we had such fun with you two.  You’re happiness is infectious and your smiles absolutely light up your surroundings.  We’ll see you in August, maybe we’ll bring the Sing Song edition of Catchphrase for the reception 😉

    Food buddies forever!

“Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you
    If you’re young at heart
… life gets more exciting with each passing day
And love is either in your heart or on it’s way”

    ~ Frank Sinatra

We loved this engagement session with Len and Rachelle – it involved a 5 pound lollipop and Fat Frank’s jumbo dogs!  Of course, it was also great to meet another couple who believe that indulging your inner child can lead to happiness.  This shoot was inspired by Len and Rachelle’s playful personalities.

Whyte Ave on a sunny Saturday morning was a fantastic backdrop; a little bit old school and quite a bit cool.  If we couldn’t find Rachelle we looked for the nearest shoe store and there she was, “grazing” as Len so lovingly calls it when she goes shoe (window) shopping.  Len seemed well practiced at steering Rachelle away from the shoes when we took some shots in a shoe store 🙂

From shoes to (other) sweet treats – we disported (Len, we threw in a small, complicated word just for you!) to the Candy Store.  It was impossible not to grin when presented with a 5 pound Whirly Pop and 18″ Gummy Bear.  Oh, the simple joy in a sugar rush 🙂

Len & Rachelle – your love of life and each other radiates through every moment and image.  It’s wonderful to see a high school friendship blossom into an “I Do” type of love.  Can’t wait to capture you guys in your wedding finery taking a long walk by the beach in Mexico.

*P.S. – Thank you so much Thalia for being our lighting goddess / equipment security officer extraordinaire for the day! =)  Love ya!

    Mucho gusto,

  • Alvin + Julie “Us” Session :: (Kirkland, Washington)

    “The smile on your face
    Lets me know
    That you need me
    There’s a truth
    In your eyes
    Saying you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
    You’ll catch me
    Whenever I fall”

Five years since first dancing as husband and wife to Ronan Keating’s When you say nothing at all, Julie and Alvin are celebrating their marriage by saying nothing at all. Instead they’re letting love infuse the moment and we were there to capture imagery that exemplifies how, after tying the knot, love simply gets sweeter.

We had the pleasure of photographing them doing one of their favorite past-times, romantic walks, to better define what it is between their hearts. Married life for Julie & Alvin includes couples massages and curling up after Thai food to watch 24. Routine for these two adventurers includes globe trotting travels and we loved seeing the world through their photos.

Julie & Alvin – your caring personalities made this shoot an absolute pleasure for us. Alvin, we are with you as your health recovers. We would love to one day have you shoot with us.  Julie, your banana bread was devoured on the drive back North!  If you ever tire of pharmacy, consider opening a bakery J

    Your Canadian pals,

  • Karen + Sam :: E-Session (Seattle, Washington)

Edmonton wedding photographersIt sounded like the beginning of a romance movie; a boy, all on his own in a new place, goes to a crowded event and looks around at the sea of foreign faces. He stops, captivated by the girl across the room. Just as he starts to move in her direction, she looks in his direction and moves as well – only she moves away from him and towards someone else she knows. Fortunately, it was the University of Waterloo that turned Karen away- having met 6 other UofW interns already that night she wasn’t particularly keen on meeting another.

Fast forward to the present and while Karen may not remember that first glimpse of her future husband, the American girl from San Francisco did Canadianize herself to cheer on her Canadian fiance’s hockey team at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. Aside from sharing great taste in hockey teams, they’re both passionate about motorcycles and it was a fantastic to include Sam’s Daytona and Karen’s scooter in their e-session. Their love for each other comes through in every moment – from daytime scooter rides and strolls through the market for food and coffee to nighttime motorcycle rides before a romantic dinner. Even the west-coast rain couldn’t put a damper on how stunning these two are together.

When we found out that Karen loves playing video games and was the one who introduced Sam to World of War Craft we thought “this must be every guy’s dream – a girl who plays World of War-craft”. Then we found out Sam is in a band, plays the guitar and piano and sings and thought “what girl doesn’t dream of a marrying a musician?”

Karen & Sam – we were so excited to be invited to Seattle to shoot your engagement and wedding!  We hope you love these images as much as we loved crafting them. Thank you for the warm hospitality – when we left Seattle we felt like we’d just caught up with two friends we hadn’t seen in a while.

P.S. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that there won’t be any rain for your wedding!  Can’t wait to meet your family and friends 🙂
