With an hour for creatives, we made the most of the time by shooting at a nearby lagoon where the rocks and water added a sense of fun and calm. While it was too cloudy for a sunset shoot, the clouds were stunning. Â The newlyweds were happy to relax and enjoy some of their first moments as husband & wife (as long as the dress didn’t get dirty!)

Welcome Mr & Mrs Wong

Philana + Gary opened their reception with their first dance.Â To celebrate their travels (and make it just a lil bit harder for guests to request a kiss) Philana + Gary locked lips only when someone named a place they had traveled together.Â Finn, of camera lens mischief earlier in the day, was first to the podium, proudly declaring ‘France’ as an answer.

Always thoughtful, Philana + Gary had a photo booth, complete with costumes and props, to keep the kids entertained.Â And a candy bar to keep the kids going ;)Â Cameron, the flower girl, was so pleased with her photos she rushed over to show us – we loved the goofy shots! Thanks for sharing Cameron!

The wedding games were light-hearted and everyone had a laugh when Philana answered ‘July’ and Gary answered ‘August’ to the question ‘when did Gary propose?’Â Typical of Gary, responsible enough to know it was a summer month but not romantic enough to know exactly when.

The speeches gave everyone insight into Philana + Gary’s personalities.Â Philana, patient, caring, globe-trotter and bargain hunter extraordinaire is a loving romantic.Â Gary was touted as the perfect guy; family-focused, responsible, career-orientated, handyman and an excellent cook.Â Careful not to oversell, Vic added that Gary is also a man of few words and little sense of humor before stating that love must be deaf as Philana was impressed by Gary’s sense of humor.

Philana’s parents ended their speech with a surprise – they had youtube’d traditional Hawaiian dances and got the guests dancing along with them while Philana, shocked by her parents technological adeptness and dance ability, laughed and joined in.

Grandpa Gary, as his friends call their sensible, responsible friend, was encouraged to enjoy his wedding day and ‘hang loose’.Â Taking his friend’s advice, Gary took part in the ‘who can dance better’ game and while he lost out on the Hershey’s Kisses with macadamia nuts and Kona coffee to Bobby and Fred, his bride was proud.

Part III :: A stunning couple, a stunning state = AWESOME.

Lucy + Jimmy Wedding :: You Jump!! I jump!! (Punta Cana, Dominican) Part III of III

Go ahead and JUMP!Â For Lucy + Jimmy, it was very much a case of we’re in this together and their wedding guests were happy to jump along with them!Â Lucy + JimmyÂ had shirts with their wedding cartoon printed and the phrase ‘You Jump, I Jump’ and, before Anthony and Rina heading off to the airport, we set off for the beach and everyone showed how happy they were for the newlyweds by, well, jumping for joy!

Boys will be boys… it’s a high school flashback for Anthony + Jimmy as they goof around. Awwwww… isn’t that cute!

Lucy + Jimmy, it was incredibly special to be part of your wedding and we’re kinda proud to be bragging to Jason that even though Anthony nearly drowned Jimmy and Jimmy nearly drowned Jason as a result, Anthony got to be the one at the wedding! Haha!Â We loved catching up with both of you in both Toronto and in Punta Cana and it was amazing to be part of such an intimate family gathering.Â Thanks for inviting us to jump!

Lucy + Jimmy Wedding :: Splash (Punta Cana, Dominican) Part II of III

We couldn’t resist a romantic stroll on the beach, particularly as that Jimmy’s dream wedding focused on the beach!Â Prior to the pool-side dinner, we were fortunate to have some time with Lucy + Jimmy in the sunset hours.

The reception took place in a rustic wooden structure by the pool; decorated with sheer white curtains and lit by hanging lanterns.Â The deep purple wedding colour was integrated in the table cloth, chair sashes and floral decorations on the cake.Â Having the dinner pool-side really brought in the warm weather (& the mischievous side of Jimmy’s sisters!).Â Everyone enjoyed the buffet dinner (Jimmy’s parents dined on 3 trays of lobster!) and washed down with some bubbly before the dance floor was opened by Lucy + Jimmy with an instrumental version of ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.’Â Ella, the flower girl, really got the dance floor going when Bruno Mars came on!Â Â Her enthusiasm was infectious as her grandparents and grand-uncles and aunts joined her on the dance floor.

Jimmy’s sisters decided the perfect way to end the night would be to throw their brother and his new bride into the pool – and they even let him change into swimming shorts first!Â For Jimmy, being thrown into the water was a bit of a flashback to high school.Â Jimmy and Anthony in high school, who were both members of the ‘War Canoe’ team that capsized on Wascana Lake during a practice session (sans life jackets of course),Â Anthony lost his balance and took his whole team out with him and Jimmy held another team member, Jason, under water while struggling to stay afloat.Â Fortunately, since that fateful day, Jimmy’s swimming prowess has improved and he wasn’t holding anyone under water to stay afloat!

Lucy bailed out of being thrown into the pool, but was happy to watch as her new husband made a splash!Â Lucy may not have made the same splash as Jimmy, but did end up in the pool for a midnight trash the dress session.

That P90x is really working for Jimmy, so much so, he took of his shirt to show off his muscles!Â At 3am we were pool-side once again but the buffet had long gone and we dined on fries, chicken wings and pina coladas while reminiscing.

Lucy + Jimmy Wedding :: Full Circle (Punta Cana, Dominican) Part I of III

Escaping the chill of Canadian winter for the sunshine of the Dominican Republic with an old high school friend = Awesome!Â We felt incredibly privileged to be at Lucy + Jimmy’s wedding as it was strictly a family only affair & no friends were invited (except us!).Â We had a blast with the couple on our first day in Punta Cana during Lucy + Jimmy’s e-session.Â On a February day they first said hello and, going full circle, on a February day, they’re saying ‘I Do.’Â This wedding was amazing in that it felt like a joint family holiday, well, because it was one.Â The intimate affair was filled with the warmth, love and closeness of being surrounded by the people who are woven into their individual pasts, the present and their joint futures.

Lucy and her maid of honour, her sister Vimy, had a relaxing morning in the spa in preparation for the ceremony.Â While the girls were being pampered, Jimmy was in his room watching Ghost Rider.

P90x worked so well for Jimmy that his belt no longer fit!Â Fortunately his parents were on hand to punch another hole and, voila, the groom was not caught with his trousers down!Â Although the same cannot be said for his shirt… but that comes in part II.

Jimmy had seen Lucy’s dress beforehand so they opted to get ready together.Â It meant we had an Infused Studios first; getting ready shots with both bride & groom in the frame.Â Â We also had an opportunity to do some creative shots before the sunset ceremony and the stone architecture was a fantastic compliment to both Lucy + Jimmy’s classic looks.

The ceremony had a beautiful pre-sunset warmth to it.Â Lucy walked down the aisle with her father and passer-bys couldn’t help but pause to admire the love story unfolding before them.Â With their family as witnesses, Lucy + Jimmy showed how their lives and hearts were now intertwined with a sand ceremony.
